Hello Maine! We thought we were in the twilight zone Jazzadelic's first gig at McSeagull's in Boothbay Harbor. They fed us a fabulous seafood dinner, good drink and a good night's pay for our playing. No offense to other venus that support us but darn is this a nice gig!
The Instrumentals will be back at the Alchemist in June and August so watch for us! Also Matt Murphy's Brookline Village in July!
I recently helped Dai and Yusaku renew their visas for another three years! No I didn't have to marry them, just claim to be their employer and tell imigration what good boys they are.

Hello Friends,
I have recently decided to change the name of the band. What is known as The Buddha Club will now be called...drum roll please.....JAZZADELIC! I know I can't believe nobody has used it before either. The only Jazzadelics that exsist right now is some obscure German retail site that is barely functioning and a compliation CD of European techno music.
There are a couple of reasons for the change. One is Jazzadelic is just so cool, don't you think? Another comes from an article in this years all Buddhist teachings issue of Shambala Sun by Ann Shaftel tittled "Handle With Care." There is a photo of a Buddha statue on a dresser top draped with neclaces and jewlery, in a tray of keys and other extraneous stuff. The article challenges our view of sacred objects and even questions the display of religious antiquities in museums. The Christian cross, a kabbala bracelet, bodhisthava statues, all are objects intended to teach very important things and I feel we should be very mindful as to how casual such icons are treated.
My original intention in choosing the name "The Buddha Club" was two-fold: Using "Buddha" in our name was my way of promoting Buddhism, keeping it in the public eye whenever possible in case it would promt someone to learn about it. Also, a Buddha is a teacher. It was my feeling that all of my friends who play in my band are my teachers and I feel that we are always teaching eachother in one way or another.
That being said, I didn't want to belittle the profound implications of the name Buddha and Buddhism. Not being a practicing Buddhist myself, I have read some of the teachings of the Buddha and of other teachers that have come along after him. To use this name in the tittle of a groove jazz band removes it from it's original purpose seemingly for our own personal gain and I am not comfortable with that. Plus Jazzadelic is really cool, don't you think?
Thanks for listening and for all your support thus far!!!
